When it comes to computers I am fortunate that I am surrounded with computer geeks. Hubby, my nephew and myself. I’m more of an online, software and internet geek. They are hardware and computer geeks, they build computers as a hobby. I’ve managed to convince hubby and nephew to come and do a “Battle of the Geeks” tomorrow at 1pm. I’m super excited about this because our listeners and our community will have the opportunity to learn about computer maintenance and even maybe what to look for when buying a computer.
- Why is my internet going so slowly?
- What should I do if I want to upgrade my computer. Should I buy a new computer or upgrade my existing one?
- What is the difference between trojens, malware and viruses.
Hubby always chooses and buys my laptop for me and in general my laptop is pretty powerful because he says “I’ve never met anyone who works a computer so hard” and so he makes sure that my computer can cope with me, to put it lightly.
The second half of the show will be answering some good questions asked by some of our listeners.
Question – Jo
What’s your thoughts on this? John’s site is hosted by her web designer. I asked her web designer for ftp access and she said yes, but reluctantly – and I’ve still not had the email with the details from her. I also said that I want to set up an email and is there a control panel – she told me “no” and that she can set up emails if I want them and it will take about 2 hours.
Question – Zane
Is it possible to build a website whereby the owner is able to upload photos?
E.g: a furniture company wanting to add photos of new stock.
I’m considering going the easy route Romany and using yola.com (I think) & creating a website using their service (apparently they do it all for you), what would be the disadvantage to this? The ease of it is certainly a plus.
Join me on the BackSeat, Tuesday at 1pm. If you got a question about your computer and let’s see if they can help you.
