New beginnings – new address = new energy.

The Taxi’s new home provides the right atmosphere to believe that anything is possible. Self esteem is renewed and trust increased. When calm is restored the business is able to show the magnetic charisma. Efforts will produce rewards. Let the voices be heard with a generous and open heart, that is the way to share the wealth. Be inspired and innovative.

This move brings a moral victory that took courage and lots of creative energy – at last your passion has a home. Moderation between rationale and intuition keeps the balance.

It’s a breakthrough and you will notice opportunities for prosperity and abundance. The wheel has finally turned and all the efforts of the past are being rewarded. Remember to manifest the internal abundance externally. Share the love, knowledge and spirit.

Nurture new ideas and bring them into reality. It’s about listening and hearing. Accept what it is and build from there. In balance comes wholeness. Take time to still the mind and be articulate. Use thought creatively and encourage high standards. Review your mission statement and forge ahead with new understanding. With great power comes great responsibility, rise to the challenge and spread the word.

Key words for moving forward are Analyse – articulate – transform.

WARRIOR of MORITSŎANA People of the West Key word – IDEALISTIC

Idealisation of love | Grace | Wonder in mutual attraction | Sentimental love| Emphasised emotions | The poetry of life | Beauty | Heightened mood and feelings | Empathy | A pleasing environment

The Basotho military system was not unlike the Zulu, in the calling up of youths to form guilds at the time of their initiation into manhood. These groups could be mobilised to serve as regiments for the chief in wartime.

These regiments were usually led by men of royal blood from within the ranks. The warriors did not have specific regimental dress but could be distinguished by their winged shields, designed to deflect spears in flight. They would be armed with light throwing spears or an axe.

Warriors would paint their clan totems on their shields. “Ba” indicates “People of” – and the name of their totem. Examples; Name: Bahlaping – Totem is a Fish (Tlhapi) or BaKwêna totem is the crocodile (Kwêna). Their headgear was black ostrich feathers.

Family Tradition In Sesotho, the words for father (ntate) and mother (mme) are also commonly used as address forms of respect for one’s elders. Politeness, good manners, and willingness to serve are values very strongly encouraged in children. The general attitude toward childhood is well summarised by the proverb Lefura la ngwana ke ho rungwa, which roughly translates as “Children benefit from serving their elders.”

The standard greetings in Sotho reflect this attitude of respect towards age. When greeting an elder, one should always end with ntate (my father) or mme (my mother). Words for brother (abuti) and sister (ausi) are used when one talks to people of the same age. A child who answers an adult’s question with a simple “Yes” is considered impolite. To be polite, the child needs to add “my father” or “my mother”.

Hospitality and generosity are expected. Even those who have very little will share their food with visitors. Of course, those who share also expect the favour to be returned when it is their turn to visit.

Key word – REJECTION
Rebuffed and snubbed | Physical adjustments | Change not yet manifested | Anxiety | Conflict | Dissention | Neglecting the body | Economic setbacks | Insecure | Feeling excluded | Medical matters

This is going to be a difficult week. We may feel that we are battling to survive. Economically and emotionally. As autumn has officially arrived, we notice our landscape changing, things are dying off. We readily accept the changes in the seasons, because we know that spring will arrive. So too should our attitude towards our own life and inner world be. We have difficulty dealing with change, this is a good week to choose what you can live without and what changes your are going to bring about in your self and your life. Dont worry – DO something. Sometimes we rebel against the tide, the easiest is to go with the flow. Even when you are feeling down and out, know that you are not beaten. The legend of Mzilikazi proves this. Its OK to move on, its also OK to wait for the right moment to bring about change.

Mzilikazi (c.1795-1868) “The Path of blood or the Great Road” King of the Matebele. Mzilikazi was a Zulu chief who founded the Matebele kingdom (Mthwakazi), Matabeleland, in what became Rhodesia and is now Zimbabwe. His father was Mashobane, chief of the Khumalo clan, and his mother, Nompethu, the daughter of the powerful Zwide of the Ndwande clan. The territory of the Northern Khumalo was located near the Black Umfolozi River, in KwaZulu- Natal. Mzilikazi spent his boyhood in the household of his grandfather Zwide.

Mzilikazi grew up in an era of unprecedented change. Clans were joining together to present a united front. Great kingdoms rose and fell within single generations; entire societies moved hundreds, even thousands of miles; and many wars were fought to bring about this change.

After the death of his father (murdered by Zwide) Mzilikazi was installed as chief, but instead of siding with his grandfather Zwide, Mzilikazi swore allegiance to Shaka. Proving himself a fearless warrior, he soon became an inDuna (advisor) to Shaka. However, Mzilikazi did not take well to a position of subservience and had his own ideas for rulership. In June 1822, Shaka sent Mzilikazi’s regiments to attack the Sotho chief Ranisi (Somnisi). After the battle, Mzilikazi refused to give the spoils to Shaka and fled with his followers.

He was forced out of his homeland by the Zulu but with remarkable resilience and tenacity managed to rebuild his authority in a series of alien environments. Moving north and northwest, he recruited strong men and women, increasing his possessions, power, and prestige. Mzilikazi was an able and ruthless general who carved out his own nation by conquering and incorporating those around him. He also built several fortresses.

The Ndebele nation in its final form was the wealthiest and most powerful of these migratory clans, incorporating a wide variety of people from different cultural backgrounds and infusing them with a sense of common identity.

Mzilikazi outlived most of his contemporaries and his kingdom survived his death in 1868 as well as the succession crisis that followed it. It was only broken thirty years’ later in two brutal wars against Europeans.

“The word Ides comes from the Latin word “Idus” and means “half division” especially in relation to a month. It is a word that was used widely in the Roman calendar indicating the approximate day that was the middle of the month”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_ides_of_march

Today the term is better known and used for the quote from the play Julius Caesar by Shakespeare. “Beware the Ides of March” has come to mean that there may be harm, danger or difficult times ahead. Another famous quote from the same play “et tu Brutus” has found its way into popular language to mean that those closest to you can often surprise you and do the most harm.
As we navigate through the ides of March, we need to look to those relationships that are toxic in our lives. We find we are subconsciously attracted to or attached to people that do not add any value, yet we feel powerless to disengage from those relationships.
We need to constantly ask ourselves the questions. If you can see a connection to any of the following, this would be a good indicator that the relationship/situation is toxic.
Does ……… add value to my life?
Does ……… make me feel less than a whole person.
Does ……… exhaust me emotionally?
Does ……… push me to do things that make me uncomfortable?
Does ……… take advantage of my time/energy/good will?
Does ……… criticize me, my life, my success?
Does ……… blame everyone else but themselves for their situation?
Does ……… make you question yourself before others?
Does ……… disclose and make light of your confidences?
Does ……… play mind games and manipulation?

Ultimately those nearest and dearest challenge us, in most instances we grow and develop through their guidance, however we should never have to sacrifice our integrity for another. Once our values have been compromised we feel disgraced thereby creating a hostile environment. Nothing good can come of this. We can’t prosper and grow without constantly adjusting our thoughts, emotions and state of well being.
We often give people way too much power over us, and are surprised when we believe we have been stabbed in the back. The issue is not what they do, but rather what we allow them to do to us. We allow them by not addressing the issue, the relationship or situation. We fear loss – yet how can something that is harmful continue to have value.
Staying attached to people that do not promote our growth and sense of well being is asking for trouble. In time they will disappoint and hurt – it’s a bit like the story of the Scorpion and the Frog, our base nature will always come out when pressed or pressured.
Greed and fear are often the motivation. Others want what you have. Sometimes they want to be you, to live the life you do, and will stop at nothing until their goals have been achieved, irrespective of the cost (emotional, mental or physical) to you. They fear and envy your position and believe that if they can weaken or take it away, this will give them an advantage in their lives.
The challenge is to truly listen to that voice inside, we know when we should withdraw, yet we persist because of our own fears. This in itself becomes damaging and a self-fulfilling prophesy. Trust in yourself and do no harm to others. Be open, honest and up front. Set clear boundaries and don’t compromise your ethics for another.

The legend I chose to reflect this in the iTongo Tarot is the assassination of Shaka (1785-1828), King of the Zulu (1816-1828). Just like Julius Caesar, Shaka was betrayed and murdered by those he trusted.

Nine of Assegai – Dishonour
During his rise to power Shaka had made enough enemies particularly within the house of Zulu and neighbouring clans. Two unsuccessful attempts were made on his life. Shortly after the death of his beloved mother Nandi, it is believed his Aunt Princess Mkabayi along with a neighbouring chief Zwide of the Mthethwa plotted the assassination.

Taking the most opportune moment when Shaka was at his most vulnerable, having deployed most of his troops, his two half brothers Dingane and Mhlangana along with his trusted advisor Mbopha, attacked and killed Shaka near his military barracks at Dukuza. Legend has it that Shaka’s corpse was unceremoniously dumped into an empty grain pit. To this day, the exact site is unknown.
